Story

As a fundraising officer at Pilgrims Hospices I'm always asking other people to hold events and take part in challenges to raise money for the charity. Therefore, I thought it about time I practice what I preach and take on a challenge myself...

Having seen the amazing care and support that Pilgrims Hospices provides to patients and their loved ones day in and day out, I am passionate to raise as much money as possible for such an amazing cause. Although I had never run more than 3 miles before I started training for the Canterbury half marathon, I am putting my all into it and trying to get out to run 15 miles a week, even in the recent swealteringly hot weather. Although people keep telling me how hilly the half marathon course is I know that the reason I'm undertaking what, for me, is an enormous challenge, will keep me going on the day!

Any support and funds you can donate would be greatly appreciated and really are going to one of the most worthwhile causes.

Thank you!

Well I managed to survive the Mt Ephraim 10k on Sunday, even after walking around London for 12 miles the day before, and on about 5 hours sleep! The hills were tough on the legs but I completed the challenge in an hour so was happy with that. My last long run tonight - 12 miles after work, followed by a weekend of walking in Pembrokeshire and a few shorter training runs next week before the day arrives! My number and timing chip came in the post last night...it's all very real now! Thank you to everyone that has sponsored me! x

Hi all, just a quick update - I went out for a 10 mile run last night and survived...success! Just three more miles on the day, and quite possibly a lot more hills! I've decided to sign up for the Mt Ephraim 10k this Sunday too to get in a bit more practice on an 'undulating' course...my new least favourite word!! Thanks for all your support :-)
